For more than 25 years, Davis County has been my home. This community has shaped who I am, and I am committed to protecting and preserving the values that make it strong. Though I briefly left for an LDS mission, military service, and education, I have always returned — to Layton, Syracuse, Clearfield, and now West Point. In 2010, I married my wife, Sara (Skousen), and together we chose Davis County to raise our four children because it offers the safe, thriving environment every family deserves.
I grew up in a single-parent household marked by hardship, where I learned perseverance, hard work, and empathy at an early age. Community support made all the difference in my life, and those experiences instilled in me a lasting desire to serve and to give back.
My career is dedicated to public safety and service. I serve as a sergeant at the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, a Captain in the Utah Air National Guard, and a firefighter/paramedic with the North Davis Fire District. I have also served as both an enlisted soldier and airman, and I spent seven years on the SWAT team. These roles — and the extraordinary men and women I have worked alongside — have prepared me to lead under pressure, hold myself and others accountable, and serve with integrity.

I am running for Davis County Sheriff because our families deserve safety, trust, and leadership prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. As Sheriff, I will take a firm stance against crime. Drug traffickers, violent offenders, and predators who target our children will be pursued relentlessly and held fully accountable. Protecting children from exploitation, abuse, online threats, and drugs will remain one of my highest priorities.
The Sheriff’s Office must also adapt to a changing world. I will ensure we use new tools and technology — including the responsible use of artificial intelligence — to strengthen investigations, improve efficiency, and deter crime. These tools will enhance, not replace, the judgment and discretion of our deputies. Davis County cannot afford to remain stagnant; we must be proactive, innovative, and prepared for the future.
Over the course of my career, I have taken the oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Utah five times. I do not take this lightly, nor do I believe these are “just words”. That oath is a sacred responsibility – to God, to this State, and to the people I have been entrusted to serve and protect. In his farewell address, George Washington warned us to “Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism,” and in Matthew 7:16 it says, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” I am committed to ensuring that Davis County remains a safe, thriving, and prosperous place to raise our families. As your Sheriff, I will lead with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to do the right thing.
