Protecting Our Children and Preserving Our Communities
Children today face real and growing threats—abuse, exploitation, and online predators—that reach into homes and neighborhoods. As Sheriff, I will make child protection a top priority through proactive partnerships with parents, the school district, local agencies, and federal partners. Prevention must be our first line of defense, and when prevention fails, accountability and justice must be swift and certain.
Having served as a detective in Davis County, I’ve seen firsthand the frequency and severity of crimes against children. Predators come from all walks of life, often hiding in plain sight or even traveling here to target our youth. Through undercover operations and coordinated investigations, we’ve held many accountable—but the reality is, more must be done. Awareness and decisive action are key to keeping our children safe.
The Davis County Sheriff’s Office, along with our local police agencies, are affiliate members of the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a joint effort that unites federal, state, county, and local law enforcement to identify, investigate, and prosecute offenders. Yet despite these efforts, child victimization continues to occur at significant numbers. You have my word as Sheriff—this issue will have my full attention. I will pursue every creative and effective strategy available to combat this plague on our society and protect our most precious responsibility—our children.
Relentless Focus on Crime
Criminals—whether drug traffickers, violent offenders, or those who prey on the elderly—threaten the safety and stability of our communities. Davis County must send a clear message: we will not tolerate crime, and we will not be a safe haven for offenders.
As Sheriff, I will lead with a dual focus: aggressive enforcement and strategic prevention. We will dismantle criminal networks, hold offenders accountable, and invest in education, early intervention, our deputies, and community partnerships to stop crime before it starts.
Public safety is a shared responsibility. By working with other law enforcement agencies, schools, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations, we can address the root causes of crime and build a safer, more resilient Davis County.
Upholding Constitutional Rights and Individual Freedoms
The Constitution is the foundation of our justice system and the guiding principle of my service. As Sheriff, my highest duty will be to uphold and defend the rights guaranteed by both the U.S. and Utah Constitutions.
Law enforcement must operate with transparency, accountability, and respect for individual liberties. Every warrant, arrest, and investigation must reflect due process and constitutional integrity. I will protect all rights—including free speech, lawful assembly, privacy, due process, and the right to bear arms—with unwavering commitment.
The Sheriff’s Office is directly accountable to the people. That accountability demands that we serve with humility, fairness, and courage—always guided by the rule of law and the constitution, not political pressure.
Embracing Technology and Combating Cybercrime
Technology is reshaping our world, and law enforcement must evolve to meet new challenges. Cybercrime—including identity theft, AI-generated exploitation, and online fraud—is growing rapidly. Davis County must be prepared.
As Sheriff, I will seek the establishment of a specialized Cybercrime Investigator within the department—an officer with advanced technical expertise and federal deputization to pursue offenders across jurisdictions. This role will focus on protecting residents from digital threats, fraud, exploitation, and holding cybercriminals accountable.
We will also harness AI responsibly to enhance crime prevention, optimize patrol deployment, and improve transparency. Technology must serve the public good—never infringe on rights or replace human judgment. Every investment will be measured by its impact on safety, freedom, and fiscal responsibility.
Building Strong Partnerships to Serve Davis County
Public safety requires collaboration. As a longtime resident, husband, father, and public servant, I understand the importance of working together—with elected officials, law enforcement agencies, schools, nonprofits, and community leaders—to protect our future.
My experience spans law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, military police, and military intelligence. I’ve served on SWAT teams, child abduction response units, and as a county active shooter instructor. These roles have taught me that trust, teamwork, and shared purpose are essential to effective leadership.
As Sheriff, I will maintain strong relationships with mayors, city leaders, commissioners, state representatives, and school board members-my focus will be our county. Together, we will evaluate laws, share data, and develop solutions that serve the people of Davis County. My goal is not to overstep, but to support, collaborate, and contribute wherever safety, law, and service are concerned. Together—with honesty, respect, and open communication—we can deliver meaningful results for our people of Davis County.
